Oratory of San Nicola di Bari

5

In Via I° Maggio, near the junction with Via Roma, we find the small oratory dedicated to San Nicola di Bari.

A marble lunette above the door has an engraved inscription commemorating the construction, which took place in 1860 at the request of Emilia Bicchierai. The chapel would have been rebuilt to replace another older one originally annexed to the Hospital of San Niccolò al Bagno built by the Peruzzi family in the fourteenth century.
Its importance having been lost in time it was also used as a storage place and warehouse. At the end of the seventies of the twentieth century it was restored, furnished and reopened for worship; for some years the pastor of Baroncelli has officiated there.
