Description
The Parish Church of Santa Maria in the Piazza dell’Antella. The building dates back to the year one thousand as confirmed by an official document from 1040.
It was, from the beginning, a reference point in the area, indeed documents drawn up between the eleventh and twelfth centuries show that the church was at the head of the entire Ema valley.
As a typical example of medieval architecture in the Romanesque style, the church was restored and modified over the centuries, both for the non-optimal structural conditions and for the damage caused by the earthquake of 1895.
The church is open only during religious services.
