Description
The Church of San Tommaso a Baroncelli is completely surrounded by nature and is located on the homonymous hill, where you can enjoy beautiful views over the city of Florence.
Some sources say that this church was built on the remains of a Lombard fort, however no trace of which has been found.
An important fresco depicting the Annunciation attributed to the school of the Beato Angelico, and a sixteenth century banner bearing a precious embroidered crucifix from the eighteenth century, a gift from Cosimo I de’ Medici to the Ripolese population can be found inside. This relic was venerated until recent times as it was considered miraculous.
