13

The visit to the Marquis François Lilium Company will introduce the most sought after and prized product in the hills of Bagno a Ripoli to you: extra virgin olive oil!

Immersed in the picturesque setting of the Uccellare estate, dating back to the fifteenth century, you will be accompanied through the beautiful space of the citrus grove, where until the end of October, you can admire old citrus trees belonging to the family. You can go along the “Oil Road“, a real guided tour to discover the secrets of Tuscan oil: from harvesting to crushing to the conservation. During the processing of olives (end of October-end of December), you can also have the chance to see the olive press in action!

After taking a look at the beautiful view from the garden villa which looks over Florence and the surrounding hills, you take a step back in time surrounded by the collection of old restored carriages owned by the Marquis François! You will be charmed by the “aristocratic” and at the same time fairytale atmosphere surrounding the carriages, able to charm both adults and children.

The journey back in time continues with the visit to the family library and the premises of the old storage cellar, where guests can enjoy looking at the jars which were used in the past for holding oil and are now proudly displayed in the beautiful restaurant that greets you at the end of the tour: you will be introduced to the secrets for discovering and tasting extra virgin olive oil and you will try various types of oil to distinguish the differences and understand the taste sensations. You will then taste organic olive oil of excellent quality produced by the company.

The cost is €30.00 per person; for children up to 6 years it is free; from 6 to 12 years the cost is €15. Payment must be made at the place of the event.
