Description
The Musical Association “Amici di Vicchio di Rimaggio” (Friends of Vicchio di Rimaggio) is active in the Bagno a Ripoli cultural sphere since its foundation in 2001, the date of its first “chamber” concert. The Association was born from the initiative of a group of musicians and enthusiasts to bring classical music into the beautiful and ancient church of San Lorenzo a Vicchio di Rimaggio (XIII century): a place of extraordinary beauty, located on a hill in the green of olive trees, which has proved to be wonderful for music, both for the acoustics and for the setting it offers.
The Association has been characterized from the beginning by some precise choices, maintained consistently over time: the quality of the performers and the repertoire; the space offered to young talented performers; the choice of chamber music which enhance the splendid acoustics of the church and a social dimension based on the friendship that unites members, performers and the audience.
The concerts, amounting to an annual total of eight, are divided into two musical seasons: spring and autumn and many of the greatest artists on the international concert have participated in them.
The success of the concerts has encouraged the “Friends of Vicchio di Rimaggio” to seek further synergies with local actors and the UNICOOP – Bagno a Ripoli Members Section, has lent itself to a broad collaboration, allowing an annual event “Il cuore si scioglie” (The heart melts) to be dedicated to the Foundation.
From the programs implemented to date, it has been demonstrated that a small association like that of the Friends of Vicchio – thanks to the enthusiasm and constant commitment of the partners and the Management and Artistic Committee – with a steady and strong will, can offer concerts at the highest level and receive the enthusiastic approval of the audience, critics, experts and the local area.
The desire to make the concerts accessible to a wide and diverse audience is constant: this is a trait that distinguishes the “Friends of Vicchio di Rimaggio” from many other musical realities.
